Alaska Highway

Really? We've been looking in the woods and the marshes only to be informed that they are on the road?

Northern British Columbia is littered with oil industry. These are mobile modular buildings set up for housing the workers. Some smaller towns use metal containers like the ones you see on ships!

I don't intend to bore you with repeated pictures of the Al-Can Highway, but thought you would like to see how the weather and terrain changed over the coarse of a few hundred miles.

Driving into.....

a beautiful cloud and rain!

Keeping our eyes skinned for animals....

The dogs love "travel days" because they get to sleep. But why is it the smallest dogs takes up the most space? Bean isn't very happy about it!

We have the road to ourselves

and the bear!

This road literally cuts through the Canadian Rockies.
The water table is very high. There is no forgiveness for a driving error.

Laird hot springs is a favorite for locals and tourists. We intended on staying at the Provincial Park, but it was at full capacity so we camped across the street at a "resort".  The park had no power because the only  electricity source was a huge generator that only powered the small office and cafe!

High water....no wonder the roads wash away!

Ta-tun-ka

They rule the roads

Today we saw

more bear in

one day, cubs included....17!

We made it to another Territory!

Watson Lake is known for the signpost collection that was begun by a homesick soldier during the construction of the Alaska Highway in 1942. Over the years, tourists have continued adding signs showing the names of their hometowns, and now the collection includes more than 60,000 signs! This one is for you, Dean!

It's just what to do

one of the several entrances

Yukon Territory, Alaska Highway

Stopped for the night at Teslin. The kayaks have yet to come off casper because of the high, fast moving water and large lakes......maybe soon!
